| Every
so often, without warning, we find a textile piece that
almost calls out to us, begging to be tea dyed. These
pillow covers turned up in an antiques shop. And pretty as
they were before, they're really gorgeous now! Tea
dyeing beautifully enhanced the rich, old-fashioned
stitched floral design. Originally tone-on-tone, the
design is now an elegant shade of tea with honey, set off
by the contrasting light sand-coloured background. Elegant!
Because
these are vintage pieces, we have no information about
country of manufacture or fabric content, although we
believe it is a cotton/synthetic blend. As you would
expect with a vintage textile, there is some sign of
previous usage, although nothing that distracts from its
beauty. Please note that any splotches or
shadows are only in the photograph, not in the piece itself.
Each
pillow cover measures approximately 16.5" by
15.5" with a smaller opening to
accommodate a toss pillow or pillow form (not included) about
14" square, perhaps slightly larger. The nylon zipper
on back is hidden by a placket.
