| Here's
another piece that inspired us to tea dye. We found it in
the same antiques shop as the Damask
pillow cover. Hmm, maybe we should go back there more
often! Tea
dyeing beautifully enhanced the exquisite crochet work
that highlights this dresser scarf. (That's what we call
it, but you could just as easily use it as a wall hanging,
on your tea table, or draped over the back of a chair.)
Because
this is a vintage piece, we have no information about
country of manufacture or fabric content, although we
believe the slightly nubbly fabric is linen, and the
decorative crochet work is cotton. As you would
expect with a vintage textile, there is some sign of
previous usage, although nothing that distracts from its
beauty -- we found three very small spots that appear as a
slightly darker tea shade near the middle of the piece. Please note that any
other splotches or
shadows are only in the photograph, not in the piece itself.
Colour
is a pure "tea with milk" shade with a hint of
rosiness. The crochet work is a shade or two darker,
highlighting the beautiful workmanship. We further
enhanced the basic design on one side of this piece with
our signature tea leaf design in a rich violet colour. The
reverse side is plain, with no patterned embellishment.
This
lovely dresser scarf measures approximately 14" wide by
33" long.
Please
note that we are unable to accept returns on vintage
textile pieces, but please also note that we do not sell
anything that we ourselves would not use or wear. |
